It’s Not Enough For Them
i break my back
but it’s not enough
i compromise my dreams
but it’s not enough
i overflow the overtime sheet
its costing me an arm and a leg
and at least one of my feet
but it’s not enough
i smile through crooked teeth
i would like to leave
i would like to believe
i’d like to be known for who i am
but my identity is a file number
and numbers are all they understand
i turn up on time
but it’s not enough
i work hard
but it’s not enough
i take pride in my work
but it’s not enough
and it can never be enough
