Fuel In The Tank
it is the look in your eyes
the problem is,
the trouble is,
i do not have the fuel in the tank
not to take me down straights
and your corners so banked
it is the look in your eyes
it takes us to bed
before it has even happened
and it cannot keep happening
i try to claim that –
i know what i am looking for
but it clashes with my view –
of embracing an uncertain future
and you,
after so much,
a future of trust,
of the most interesting touch
but i do not have the fuel in the tank
and i wish,
i really wish i did
but belief has sunk,
and for our purposes it rarely fits
so i step on the crank
and i dive in to retrieve it
but i do not have the fuel in the tank
and i know that,
i know that deep inside,
oh, but it is the look in your eyes
