I Am Not Gifted
I am not gifted,
but I know,
I know I have severely drifted;
because
I am a bundle of firecracker talent
but set out to sea.
I am a crossword puzzle,
with a tricky clue,
I am a local hero
in my own handmade fantasy world;
but I am not gifted,
talent, it’s never set off and finally lifted.
I am not gifted,
because talent
cannot and does not do the heavy lifting;
gears,
they need to be really shifting;
but me,
being me, it feels like something that is limiting.
But…
my gifts…
well, my gifts…
are bundle of talents
painted with hues that do not shine clearly;
they are talents
cast out on a sea.
I can never follow the instructions
and make the best of me.
And here I am,
caught in the long arms of my internal nature,
stacking boxes
on the shelves of my future.
