Trying to Please People

i am tired,
trying to please people
have this…
take that…
do not talk to him…
do not talk to her –
she is a snake in the grass
there is a secret she would not share

i am tired
trying to please people
hanging around in a vault
counting the blame
because it is all my fault

tired of reading scriptures
by lamplight at midnight
rearranging my fixtures
trying to please people
nothing is ever clear
and nothing is secured with tape
sometimes it is more than i can bare
trying to balance the books
angry faces
and accessing looks
i am tired
