Wearing Smiles Under Our Eyes
it is all we can do to stay afloat
it is all we can do to stay on top
it is all we can do to leave
it is half of our belief
and half of our need
wearing smiles under our eyes
our eyes are heavy and unfit
tired and barely able to stay up
slowly closing our lids
we looked so hard for the truth
but we could not find where it hid
it is all we can do to hold you
it is all we can to hold onto us
and now it has been a hard week
making mental notes of our being
i almost forget that believing
is not always what i am seeing
