Life as Sand – Written Saturday 17th February 2000 (Aged 25)

Life as Sand

everyone has to understand
a life with people,
life as sand
sand in a timer that drops steadily
that ebbs away
and nibbles at our future so readily
everyone has to wait
for their turn on a ride
one that may decide our fate
that may creep inside
and be ever present
even though it may appear to hide
everyone has to be seen
stopping occasionally,
just to mingle with the crowds
a life with people
and life as sand
see it pass through your fingers
and pass through many hands

James Garratt – Saturday 17th February 2001
