Today Is Not Yesterday
today is not yesterday
memories have burned
and people are concerned
concerned,
that their habitat is ill conceived
and that luck is not received
today is not yesterday
its depth,
barely the width of my breath
and when it is random and shallow
all i can do,
is lead myself into the future
because i do not want to see my past –
swinging from the gallows
today is not yesterday
but it will be tomorrow
i watch on as the clock ticks
the people start to sway
and dreams whisper like the wind
their truth is just a moment away
but today is not yesterday
