falling in love
and shared flats
all becoming never quite enough

you cannot wear your parents clothes
they should not fit
you cannot should their lives
they should be too heavy to lift

i wish
i wish i had stood my ground
overwhelmed as i was
confidence more lost than found

it was either –
compassion or creativity
one of the two –
that would pull me forwards

so many caught my eye
and so many –
dived right into my emotions
and caused a lovely commotion

creativity
and neurodiversity
find labels,
repel insanity

we cannot acknowledge our life together
for you,
it appears it never happened
it is like we never happened

two years –
since you went away
but did you –
ever really stay?

is it such a surprise –
that they overfed you
with all their insecurity and lies

but i have always felt –
reassuringly small in the universe
accepting that my time is relatively brief
spending a lifetime in different seasons
turning over a different leaf
