i am a cheeky chappie
who learned about sadness
and how it is okay to be unhappy
it does not always lead to sadness

it was science and languages
and something about flowers
but not a thing about insecurity
or how it craves and misuses power

the more the bread continues to bake
the more,
spontaneity turns up late
the more,
i reduce my plate

this new house
has yet to find its feet
it’s windows for nearly ninety years
have stared out onto the street

history –
is a a view
that someone else once held
scrap metal
that you can no longer weld
